7 Essential Copywriting Books At TTANDEM we were keen to write an article about copywriting books . For us, reading is both a vice, a necessity and a weakness. The shelves of our bookcase often complain about the weight of so much knowledge contained in the pages they hold. There is so much to read and learn!
So, being as we are specialists in digital strategy, copywriting or persuasive writing is like a magnet for us, because it unites both marketing and communication . And if you are reading this post, we suspect that you are also interested in the subject.
Of course, if you have come here for another reason, such as because you are interested in us helping you with your online strategy or the design of your website, just say so. At TTANDEM we will be happy to help you.
We all know how to write, but each of us has his or her own technique and the function of language varies greatly depending on the professional who wields the pen (there is still some classical romanticism in our veins).
A writer, a journalist, an SEO editor and a copywriter do not handle words in the same way. The objective of all of them when writing is also very different, from moving and telling stories to persuading and selling.
A writer, a journalist, an SEO editor and a copywriter do not handle words in the same way. It sounds like the beginning of a joke, although we regret to say that we do not have the necessary spark for it.
Returning to the differences between them: the objective of all of them when writing is also very different.
The writer aims to move us and make us feel part of the story of his characters; a journalist reports objectively with his news and articles; an SEO editor seeks to position a brand within the network, and a copywriter , on the other hand, writes to persuade the reader to download a resource, fill out a form, etc.
It may not seem like it, but sometimes (with all due respect to what we are going to say), the copywriter (persuasive writer, if you prefer) is a bit of a chameleon and plays, in part, some of the other roles.
However, if you are interested in learning more about the techniques, resources, formulas or knowledge you need to be able to handle yourself competently in the field of copywriting , we suggest seven books.
It was difficult to make the selection, mainly because we set ourselves the goal of bringing copywriting books by Spanish-speaking authors (there is much more material in English), but it was also complicated to do so because we would have liked to include others that were left out due to quota reasons. All because we believe in the number 7 (this is very copywriting-related ) as a lucky number and we did not want to go over that numerical limit.
NOTE: the word copy refers both to the text created by the copywriter or persuasive writer and to the professional himself , and the number seven is a completely harmless extravagance of ours (there will be colleagues who prefer other numbers).
Do you (really) need to redesign your website?

Storytelling and copywriting. How to tell the story of your company, by Anita Cufari
A very interesting book, especially focused on branding and storytelling . Two legs of the marketing table closely linked to copywriting . Perfect for learning about and building the brand story . Very clear and, above all, practical explanations. A good bedside book , without a doubt.
Anita Cufari , the author, is an Argentine copywriter with a long career behind her. Specialized in Brand Storytelling , she studied Advertising, Art Direction and Copywriting. She shares her experience in universities and business schools. She collaborates with El Economista. If you want to know more about her, this is her website where you will find her courses.
Copywriting manual in Spanish. The most complete book on digital copywriting, by Rosa Morel
A book focused from start to finish on learning how to write to sell online using copywriting techniques .
As defined by the author in her first “non-prologue”, this manual of more than two hundred pages is designed to serve as a reference guide for all those people who know the weight and importance of words in the digital context .
Rosa Morel is a Spanish copywriter (she has her own academy), consultant and international speaker on persuasive writing using copywriting techniques with neurosales. She has studied Hispanic Philology, Advertising and Journalism. We recommend you visit her website .
Neurocopywriting. The science behind persuasive texts, by Rosa Morel
We repeat the author, yes, and we do it for a reason.
This is a book with somewhat technical details in that it talks about neurolinguistics applied to sales, but it is not at all difficult to understand. Rosa has the ability to make the most complex subject understandable and easy. In addition, there is no shortage of personal anecdotes in its pages .
Discovering how our brain works and how essential marketing metrics to include in your reports it reacts to certain words , at least for me, is extremely attractive . It is a book that will thrill you.
In it you will discover the processes of language assimilation and the importance of using the right words when communicating. With it you will learn to reach the reader’s brain and appeal to their emotions .
Storytelling. Magical writing, by Carlos Salas
This is one of those books of less than two hundred pages that as soon as it passes through your hands it will start to be full of notes and post-its .
Inside you will discover techniques to organize your ideas, write with ease and capture the reader’s attention .
A very practical book with highly concrete and explanatory examples of how to be more effective when writing. Priceless for showing a basic text and then showing how to rewrite it so that the message becomes more effective .
The final section of each chapter, “remember that,” is the perfect cheat sheet every poor student would want.
The book goes beyond writing manuals. Very similar to the title by Rosa Morel that we mentioned just before, because this title also delves into neuroscience and cognitive psychology to explain how the brain works when writing , although the styles of each author are very different and highly complementary.
We think it is essential .
As for the author, Carlos Salas , we can tell you that he is a journalist and professor of communication at Carlos III and Complutense . He has also written several books on writing techniques. He has also been in charge of various newspapers as an editor: Capital, El Economista, Metro, lainformacion.com.
SEO Copywriting, the odd couple. Write your website with charisma, by Anna Mira
SEO and copywriting don’t have to be at odds .
If copywriting was born to convince people ch leads and SEO to convince search engines, by combining both concepts the result will be even more optimal. And that is what its author shows us.
We really like that she dedicates each chapter (she calls them “parts”) to a specific phase of the process that every copywriter follows . We nuance this a bit: for example, in chapter 2 she talks about how to define the value proposition, in chapter 3 about the customer research phase, the product…
Chapter 4 is dedicated entirely to On-Page SEO . It even includes the outline of an SEO -optimized article and how to build that structure in WordPress.
Chapter 5 is the jewel in the crown. The title keeps its promise: How to write your website page by page to sell yourself like a bandit lover.
In short, throughout its pages we find a compendium of good advice and basic concepts, but above all practical examples .
Furthermore, the end of the book, where he completely lays bare his soul, is an unexpected pleasure. His “Manifesto for Life” is wonderful.
It’s clear that we recommend it, right?
Anna Mira is an SEO copywriter and specialist in digital marketing and business communication . She has a degree in advertising and has worked for more than twelve years in various marketing agencies and communication departments. We highly recommend that you visit her website .
Stand out! Copywriting techniques to sell more and bore less, by Elena de Francisco
A book unknown to most people who are starting to create their own copywriting library , but one that captivated us from the first second.
Perhaps this is a very bold statement, but we dare say that it could be considered in itself a very valuable crash course on copywriting .
Divided into thirteen chapters, Elena, the copywriter behind these pages, breaks down copy techniques step by step . And she does so in such specific contexts as the home page of the website, the services page, the about page, ads on social networks…
All of this is explained in simple language , large print and with graphics, images, tables and QR codes that complement the explanations.
You can purchase it directly from The Expat Copywriter, their website . A site worth visiting.
Who is Elena de Francisco ? Elena is a Spanish freelance copywriter living in The Hague. She is also a marketing specialist and event planner . We can’t tell you much more about her, because there is hardly any information about her life on the internet.
We are now going to talk about the last book on our list. And make no mistake, the fact that we have put it last has nothing to do with the quality of its content.
Copywriting. 3 manuals in 1, by Copyn Hood
It is surprising that such a finite book, or rather a triple manual, provides so much valuable and interesting information .
Copyn Hood gets straight to the point in each of the sections or manuals into which the book is divided. It couldn’t be more practical . Its instructions can be a great way to unlock when we don’t know how to start writing a sales page. It contains strategies, keys and structures to write sales pages effectively in a short time.
A perfect manual to break the ice when the blank page stands before you like a seven-headed monster.
We would like to be able to tell you about Copyn Hood , but as much as we have searched like true bloodhounds, we have not found anything about him or her. Big mystery… We assume that it is part of his or her persuasion game. Out of respect, we do not share the link that appears throughout the manual and that allows you to download some of the resources that are provided in its pages. You will have to buy it on Amazon .
The only thing we can tell you is what you’ll find on the back cover of this triple manual: he’s over 30, which was when he discovered copywriting, and since then he’s dedicated himself to perfecting and studying the art of persuasive writing. He shares his knowledge as a professional copywriter with anyone who wants to make a living from writing and wants to learn copywriting.
We are sure that this tour has not been enough for you, but that you have also had some questions. So we have gone ahead and answered some of the questions that have surely crossed your mind.
What is storytelling ?
In Spanish the word storytelling would be something like the art of telling stories.
Storytelling is the tool through which the copywriter takes hold of his narrative ability. In the purest style of the best -selling writer , he begins to spin anecdotes or personal stories, for example, until redirecting that personal experience towards the topic and objective he wants to achieve in his reader : sale, subscription, scheduling a call…
Of course, this doesn’t make you a professional writer, although it would be exciting to try and thrilling to believe it for a moment.
Are there more titles on copywriting in Spanish?
Yes, of course. And if you explore blogs like María Márquez ‘s , Maïder Tomasena ‘s or Raquel Martín ‘s , you’ll see that everyone has their own preferences.
As always, it’s a matter of taste. As you delve deeper into this topic, you’ll probably start to have a favorite in mind that beats the rest. Whatever works for you will be fine. It’s not about imposing our criteria.
Can you learn copywriting just by reading books on the subject?
Learning, yes, even delving into some specific aspects, depending on the book chosen, is also possible. However, being a copywriter goes far beyond reading a few books or attending a one-hour masterclass .
Therefore, you must be very clear that reading seven books on copywriting is not going to make you a professional in that field , although if you are training in that field or intend to do so, these books that we have mentioned may be a good step.
We hope, of course, that you are encouraged to buy some of the ones we recommend in this article. We are sure you will enjoy reading it.
In any case, if you feel that copywriting, despite such interesting readings as these, is a bit too much for you, remember that at TTANDEM you can count on our help in that field. If you are interested, click on the button.
